SNL went all gay on our a**es last night, and we just had to share. Thanks to The Advocate for the write-up.

Saturday Night Live‘s latest episode, hosted by Argo director Ben Affleck, went full-throttle gay on the May 18 episode, with three LGBT-related skits.

With castmembers Bill Hader and Seth Meyers leaving the show, Hader’s club-kid Stefon married Meyer’s “Weekend Update” host. But first Meyers had to chase Stefon through the streets of New York and prevent him from marrying Anderson Cooper. There was also a skit poking fun at “conversion therapy” camps, and a fake ad for a new breed of Xanax, specially-formulated to treat the sadness straight people feel when attending fabulous gay weddings. A gay man was gunned down in Greenwich Village early today by an armed bigot who hurled homophobic slurs at him — and claimed to be the Newtown, Conn. killer before the murder, police said today.

The 32-year-old Brooklyn victim, whose name has not been released, was walking with a pal on Sixth Avenue near West Eighth Street about midnight when they were approached by three Hispanic males, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said.

One man snarled homophobic slurs at the men and asked them if they were “gay wrestlers,” Kelly said.

The men continued moving and made a right onto West Eighth Street.

One of the Hispanic men left and the other two continued to follow the victim and another man.

Both the victim and another man with him were wearing tank tops, cutoff shorts and boots.

“Do you want to die here?” the shooter asked the victim.

He pulled out a .38-caliber revolver and shot him once in the cheek.

“It was a quickie. He shot him and he went straight to the ground,” said a bouncer at a nearby club. “Half his body was lying on the sidewalk and half was on the street.”

The man died shortly after at Beth Israel Hospital.

“This is clearly a hate crime,” Kelly told reporters.

There have been 22 bias attacks in the city so far this year, up from 13 at this point last year, he added.

After wounding the victim, the shooter ran east and then downtown. Police nabbed him shortly after on MacDougal and West Third streets.

When he saw the cop car, he tossed his revolver to the ground and surrendered.

He is currently being questioned at the Sixth Precinct but has not been conclusively identified because he has a phony ID on him, cops said.

The shooter appeared crazed and confessed to the shooting after he was nabbed, a police source said.

Twenty minutes before the slaying, the suspect had gotten into confrontation after urinating on the wall of a bar called Annisa, on Barrow and West Fourth streets.

When a bartender confronted him, the brute told him that if he called police, he would shoot him.

“Don’t you know I’m wanted? Do you know about the shooting in Sandy Hook?” he bizarrely told the bartender, according to Kelly. “I’m a wanted man.”

City Council Speaker Christine Quinn — who is running to be the New York’s first openly gay mayor — said she was horrified by the attack.

“There was a time in New York City when two people of the same gender could not walk the street arm-in-arm without fear of violence and harassment,” she said. “We refuse to go back to that time.”

Police are asking anyone with information about the murder to call the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.

It seems the more things change, the more they stay the same. Just hours after Ultimate Fighting  Championship lightweight Nate Diaz sent an anti-gay tweet the UFC quickly  announced it would suspend the athlete from the mixed martial arts promotion for  having violated its code of conduct.

Diaz sent a pair of tweets Thursday in which he expressed sympathy  for Pat Healy, who lost $130,000 in  bonus money after testing positive for marijuana, and attacked Bryan  Caraway, the fighter who scooped up $65,000 of the money.

“I feel bad for Pat Healy that they took a innocent mans money and I think  the guy who took the money is the biggest fag in the world,” Diaz wrote.

UFC swiftly condemned the message, suspended him and released a statement  that read:

“We are very disappointed by Nate Diaz’s comments, which are in no way  reflective of our organization. Nate is currently suspended pending internal  investigation and we will provide further comment once the matter has been  decided.”

Diaz’s manager Mike Kogan complained about his client’s suspension to website MMAJunkie:

“Guess what? The word f—-t, at least in Northern California, and where Nate  is from, means bitch. It means you’re a little punk. It has nothing to do with  homosexuals at all. So when Nate made the comment that he made, he didn’t make  it in reference to homosexuals or calling Caraway a homosexual. He just said it  was a bitch move. I’m sure some people got offended, and hopefully this article  will explain what his intent was. But how people view it is how people view it.  I can’t control that. His intent was not to make a derogatory term toward  homosexuals. He used the word to refer to a punk or a bitch.”

In the New York Times Style section today, there’s a blurb on the amazing model Karlie Kloss, who’s teamed up with Frame Denim to make jeans for taller women. She’s famous for her “long limbs,” and she’s famous for her height (5′ 11″), and her new jeans could be the “start of something big.”

Ahem. Good for you, Kloss, but please eat! Our society is filled with women (and men) with eating disorders, and the photo used just shows us how malnourished this woman is. That tiny detail goes unnoticed in the article.

Queer Rising will hold a rally to protest and bring awareness to the four recent anti-LGBT violent attacks that have occurred over the past ten days. The rally will be held tomorrow, Thursday, May 16, outside Madison Square Garden at 7:00 PM EDT.

On Monday, Murray Lipp, who runs the hugely popular Gay Marriage USA Facebook page, penned an article in the Huffington Post detailing the attacks — noting they are “a sad reminder that homophobia is still alive and thriving in this city” — and calling for action:

On the afternoon of Sunday, May 5, a gay male couple in their 20s were walking arm-in-arm down Eighth Avenue between 34th Street and 35th Street, within the vicinity of Madison Square Garden, when they were subjected to a brutal anti-gay assault, presumably in the presence of numerous bystanders. The two men allege that they were called “faggots,” knocked to the ground and physically assaulted. Both men received treatment in the hospital. Their attackers, described as a group of up to eight men in their 20s, fled the scene and have not been apprehended as of this writing. (See their descriptions here.)

The second incident also occurred in Manhattan, around West 33rd Street and Ninth Avenue. In the early hours of Friday, May 10, two gay men (reported to be a couple) were subjected to an anti-gay assault. After being refused access to a billiards club, they were subsequently approached and attacked by a group of up to five men who allegedly hurled homophobic abuse and physically beat them. Both of the victims required hospital treatment. Only two of the alleged attackers have thus far been arrested.

Silence equals tolerance of the unacceptable. We must come together as a community to express a message of strength and defiance to those who would rather see us locked in closets forever. Regardless of sexual orientation, everyone should have the right to walk down the street without fear of being subjected to verbal abuse or physical assault. I call on LGBT leaders, organizations and allies in New York City to come together as one to rally against hate and in support of diversity.

Lipp acknowledges what many LGBT people in New York City (yes, NYC,) feel:

Although I don’t like to ever give in to fear, I must admit that there are times when I will not hold my partner’s hand in public for fear of being verbally or physically assaulted.

Meanwhile, ABC Local News today reported on a third posible anti-gay attack in Manhattan. On the evening af May 8^th, a gay man was leaving Pieces Bar and attempting to hail a cab when he was assaulted by two men who shouted anti-gay slurs. The victim was not injured in the incident. Pieces Bar is located within working distance of the Stonewall Inn, the birthplace of the American LGBT rights movement.

ATTENTION: At Madison Square Garden, we will be face-to-face with individuals who may share the same mind-set as the May 5th attackers. Therefore, it is IMPERATIVE that we DO NOT provoke anyone. We will simply be providing information (via flyers and posters) to Knicks fans, informing them of the incident and our demands for safety.
