With Halloween just around the corner, and costumes often difficult to come up with, we have a list of ideas that are guaranteed to make your holiday a success. Whether you are spending a night on the town or throwing a party with a few close friends, your outfit will make the difference between a good time and a scary-great time.

The Avengers characters are the perfect opportunity to break out a cape and call yourself a hero. Whether you’re showing off your glutes as Captain America, flexing those abs as the The Hulk, or wearing a metal six pack as Iron Man, superhero costumes have never been more popular.

I’ve seen the The Engineer from Prometheus done well and badly before but there is no denying the potential. It’s a basic pair of briefs and some excellent body paint, leaving the majority of the focus on you. That being said, it certainly is not an easy task, but it is well worth the work. A lot of people may mistake you for the golden Oscar, but if science fiction is of any interest to you, it’s worth a shot!

The movie Expendables provides a wealth of costume ideas with a cool, military feel. If you can get your hands on a bullet-proof vest or something similar then you are already halfway there. Whether you wanna look like Stallone or Norris, there is most likely something you could rock in.

Tom Dailey is another fabulous excuse to wear a swimsuit in autumn. Arguably a new gay icon since his Olympic medal, he is the perfect costume for someone of a smaller build. With a spray tan, a sharpie’d Olympic tattoo, and the Speedo you just tucked away, you are an instant bronze medalist.

We have all seen the Chippendale’s costumes a hundred times before, and I’m not complaining, but Magic Mike now gives you an excuse to do it all over again. With a bow tie, some cuffs, and your choice of underwear, the classic strip gear is more then warranted.

Last but certainly not least, a strong and broad baddie with an intoxicating look. Bane is the villain in The Dark Knight Rises and is probably the best potential costume to come out this year. His outfit is just difficult enough to discourage the inexperienced while still being attainable enough to give it a shot. With the right coat, a shaved head, and massive arms, all you’re missing is his signature mask.
