SpiritDay2011

Over the past year we have been shocked by the news of gay teens committing suicide due to homophobic abuse and bullying in their homes or at their schools.
Most recently, we heard about Jamie Hubley, who committed suicide on Saturday. He was a 15-year-old boy from Ottawa, Canada, who couldn’t take being bullied anymore over the fact that he was the only openly gay kid at his school.

Thanks to teenager Brittany McMillan, who started Spirit Day in 2010, this year you can wear PURPLE on October the 20th, as a sign of support for LGBT youth and to speak out against bullying.
GuySpy encourages you to be part of this movement. We need to show our youth love and compassion, and to let them know that even when things seem to be really rough, at the end, it always “Gets Better.”
