Katy Perry is on the cover of the new Billboard issue, and she reveals some things inside that might make you roar: Like, how she might end up being more a Joni Mitchell than a Britney by album #4, that she had some definite struggles this past year while her marriage with super-duper-skinny-pant fanatic Russell Brand was ending, her love for John Mayer, and, oh yeah, that Barbara Walters totally gave her grief for showing up late to an interview. Katy describes the incident by saying:

I shouldn’t have done the interview: I was playing Madison Square Garden that same night, and I knew that the end of my marriage was coming. I was just exhausted and stressed,” Perry says. “I’d prepped everyone that I was running late, but Barbara showed up at the original time anyway. When I got there, I apologized immediately, but then she said to me, ‘You know, I’ve only ever waited for one other person this long, and you know who that person was? Judy Garland. You know how she turned out, right?’ I was like, ‘Oh, snap! Yes, bitch!’ I think it’s the coolest thing that Barbara Walters shaded me. I just couldn’t tell her as we were sitting down for a mega-interview, ‘Hey, my marriage is falling apart. Give me a break.’

Ouch! B-Waltz meant business! I think it’s cool that Walters can use Garland’s tragic demise to bully people, if just to show her star-interview power. I think Katy got the last laugh on this one by not only explaining that her marriage was failing, but by also using the term “shaded.” Barbs is probably just like “but we weren’t wearing glasses?” Just kidding. Everybody knows Bee-Walt knows every slang created, ever. Why, she got a crash course from Snooki herself. GTL, grenades, LOLZ!

Billboard also has the new Katy Perry dance track, titled “Walking on Air” – listen to it over herePRISM is out October 22nd.
