It’s a good thing that Britney’s eighth studio effort, Britney Jean, is filled with ballads, because given the announcement of its first week sales, we Britney fans need something to play while we cry out the disappointment. According to BillboardBritney Jean peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 charts, trailing behind Garth Brooks, One Direction. and a Kelly Clarkson Christmas album – which also happens to be the start of a really good dirty joke I know.

The new studio effort from Brit Brit only sold 107, 000 copies, making it her lowest selling album debut, well, ever. First week sales aren’t always that important, but given that Baby One More Time…  the album that launched Britney into a household name, sold more than that (121, 000) in its first week, we can’t but feel like we might have forgotten about Britney this week. Oops…
