Tomorrow is the day of the 9th Annual Clapham Street Party in South London – undoubtedly the best gay street party in the UK. Edgeley Road will be shut off for the entire day, with live music, DJs, performers and bars from 2pm until late into the evening, with the party continuing inside Kazbar until 3am!
This year is set to be bigger and better than any other year with a massive line-up of local, national and international talent, including Freemasons Diva and the queen of funky house – Katherine Ellis, 80s super-stars Lonnie Gordon and Jaki Graham, UK TV star Jacquii Cann and our very own ‘Jazzy Pop Crooner,’ and house rising star, Danny Hilton!
There will also be a ton of cabaret and drag entertainment, hosted by the self-proclaimed ‘whore of Hampstead Heath,’ Sandra. The line up includes, Baga Chips & Tanya Hyde, Dave Lynn, Topping & Butch, Rose Garden, Myra Dubois, the Big Gay Big Band, Miss Jason & Maisie Trollette, and the winner of Drag Idol 2013. The infamous Glendora will be on hand throughout the day to cause general mischief (as usual).
Clapham Street Party has grown year after year, drawing in crowds from across London and the UK to this vibrant, gay-friendly part of London. The street party is the unofficial kick-off to the celebrations for London Pride, which takes place next weekend (Saturday June 29th), with a parade through the streets of London, live performance stages at Trafalgar Square and Dean Street, and for the first time this year, an open-air music festival extravaganza in Shoreditch Park.
Tickets are £4, with special £20 tickets for speedy entry which includes two drinks.
