Ellie Goulding is an unusual and splendidly talented artist with a rare sound that floats somewhere in between dubstep and modern house music. Since the release of her debut album, Lights, Goulding has been blowing up the music scene.

Her newest work, Halcyon, was released on October 9 and has received rave reviews. Goulding grew up sharing a bedroom with her two sisters and searching for new ways to escape the shackles of her small town confines. At 15, Bjork became the diversion she so desperately needed and it inspired the interest in singing and songwriting that made her who she is today. Now her music is serving as the heroic escape for the girls that she was once living among.

Halcyon is an incredible blend of unique and inspiring
sounds, wrapped in Goulding’s amazing voice. Every song is different from the one before it while still staying true to the all encompassing spirit of her music. Halcyon features deeper beats and stronger vocals than her debut CD, and is soaked in a sense of epic that is seldom achieved by even the most experienced of artists. It is the perfect dance mix, that manages to be both moving and abundantly uplifting.

Goulding has the rare ability to lift her listeners up in a wave of synthesized celebratory anthems while still reaching us on an emotional level through her blissfully somber songs of redemption, love, and loss. She is one of the few artists who have managed to successfully use modern music making techniques to add to the thrill and emotional connection without hiding her voice in a pool of auto-tuned ambiguity. Halcyon truly embodies the optimistic future of pop music and the thrilling potential of modern melody.

The album is available for purchase on iTunes and the individual tracks can be sampled on YouTube. Goulding’s world tour begins this December, and tickets can be purchased on www.elliegoulding.com.
