Do all you gays remember how excited everyone was for the Madonna Superbowl Halftime show last year? It seems like a fuzzy blur to me of medleys, the band LMFAO, a lot of leather or tight-black body suits and, oh yeah, M.I.A. giving everyone the finger! That was some good fun; we all had a chuckle and moved on about that, right?

Nope. Turns out,  M.I.A. has been having some secret legal trouble about the incident the whole time, with the NFL’s lawyers asking (or fighting politely, as I like to feel courtrooms are really for) for $1.5 million from Maya. And a public apology! A public apology. Gosh, do you remember the whole “truffle fry” incident from her New York Times Magazine profile? No one is getting an apology anytime soon from M.I.A.

Obviously, M.I.A. is fighting back, saying that the whole thing is totally hurting on her image as an ambassador for the genocide in her home country. Read a detailed description of the legal troubles over at Pitchfork. And remember, Madonna “wasn’t happy about” the finger at all, so pick a side…

I feel like the fact that everyone has already forgotten about it makes an apology unnecessary! Forgive and forget right? Well it’s already been forgotten!
