The annual Mr Gay UK competition comes down to its last day of voting today – I spoke to a couple of them last night… Voting closes today, so make sure you act fast if you want to back one of these hotties!

Martin Gilchrist – Mr Gay London
27 year old Retail Buyer from London

What would make you a good Mr Gay UK?
Despite looking after myself and  keeping fit, I’m really down to earth and outgoing and would like to represent the gay community, making appearances, supporting charities, traveling to explore gay communities and challenges across different countries.

What would you do as Mr Gay UK?
I would love to pursue a modelling career as Mr Gay UK, but I’d also like to help with charity work, appearances at gay events/clubs, getting the crowd going, and having fun!

What do you think are the most important issues facing gay men in the 21st century?
It seems gay men are still conscious of their sexuality and how they can fit in and adapt within society and their working environment. There is still a balance to be set for equality as gay individuals, but there’s a lot of support out there, with events such as prides, gay nights at straight clubs in small towns, and so on. It’s good to see the gay community opening up, to demonstrate a gay man is no different than a hetero man.

What’s the number one reason people should vote for you?
I’m genuine and sincere with all my intentions. I just came out from a five-year relationship, which was challenging and brought a lot of sad times in my life. It has been tough, but I’ve powered through. This would be the break I need and I’d work hard to make it work!

Ben Bronson – Mr Gay Blackpool
24 year old Car Valeter from Blackpool

What would make you a good Mr Gay UK?
I feel I would put my focus on the issues that affect young gay men rather than just try and look good in photos.

What would you do as Mr Gay UK?
I would embrace the experience and use the title to push the issues I feel affect the gay community (and party).

What do you think are the most important issues facing gay men in the 21st century?
The biggest at the moment would have to be gay marriage and gay men being able to adopt a child when in a long-term relationship.

What’s the number one reason people should vote for you?
I’m down to earth and hard working and believe gay men deserve to be treated the same as straight men – no better or worse, but totally equal.

You can vote for these and other contestants via the Mr Gay UK website – but be quick, voting closes today!
