As most of you know, Ben Cohen retired from professional rugby back in 2011, and since then has been focusing on The Ben Cohen StandUp Foundation he created to combat homophobia and bullying. Pretty cool for a straight guy, right?
To continue raising awareness of the long-term, damaging effects of bullying he teamed up with Kiehl’s to offer a kit of adventure-tested sports essentials. Really cool for a sports star, right?
Yesterday, as part of October’s “Anti-Bullying Month” campaign he visited the Kiehl’s flagship store in the East Village to present the collection. Goes without saying our Senior Editor, David Toussaint, and yours truly couldn’t miss the opportunity to mingle with the stud…
I barely made it, and despite being sweaty and nervous I got to meet Mr. Cohen. Such a nice lad; and the accent… I melted! Ben’s longtime friend Chris Salgardo (Kielh’s President) was also there, and he told me the company has always been concerned about the future of children and loves what Ben’s doing. They couldn’t be happier to collaborate with the former rugby player/current hunk heartthrob pin-up boy.
Guests enjoyed complimentary 20-minutes facials, refreshments courtesy of Vita Coco, and delicious Magnolia Bakery cupcakes. On top of that, 15 percent off an entire purchase, which Keihl’s donated to The Ben Cohen StandUp Foundation. Sweat deal, right?
Not just a pretty face
