SirahI have a huge thing for female rappers. Everyone from Angel Haze and Brooke Candy to Iggy Azalea and Azealia Banks can be caught on my playlist. Their epic lyrics mixed with all the sass your ass can handle is the perfect pairing for a bad day or breakup. Sirah has come to my attention as she climbs the charts with her angsty arrogance and insatiable appetite for back beats that will have your heart thumping hard!

She is no stranger to the music scene and has already earned herself a Grammy for her track with the undeniably talented Skrillex. Not only can she spit like she’s been carved by the Bronx, but she can sing too. Her new album, Inhale, is an anthem for mischievous ways and your next drunken haze. I spoke with the bad ass young bitch about her new tour with Icona Pop, her award show success, and, of course, her album! first thing you notice about this pixie dream girl is her awesome sense of style. I had to ask what inspired her great look.

“Poverty. I grew up super poor and I kinda just throw things together. Fashion is the same aesthetic as what music is. It comes from the same place in my mind. Going to the Grammys, I was like ‘I wanna go get a dress! Wait, you mean someone’s gonna put clothes on me? I wish they could do that all the time!'”

Sirah says she was dumbfounded when she won the award.

“I can’t even imagine waking up and being like ‘I’m gonna go win a grammy!’ My big goal is [to] keep making music that sort of confuses people. I want to keep doing what I want to do whether people get it now or later. My goal is to really be who I am. Oh, and save kittens and the world!”

Her new album is a lot different than the last, and it rivals her original awesomeness.

“Yeah, it’s definitely different but I think all my projects are different, and I know that the next project will be different as well. My music reflects how I am feeling at the time. A lot of really heavy things were going on for me in general. A lot of things happened I had to navigate through. For me it was an epic moment in time.”

As much as I love her new stuff, if you are new to her beats you have got to hear “Up & Down” off her last album. Check it out!

I had so much fun getting to know the girl behind the gritty rap/pop blend that has my head bobbing. If you wanna get to know her a little better tweet her or follow her anywhere!
