Summer is finally here and Saturday the 29th of June was London Pride! While Danny Hilton was causing mischief in Soho, I was over the other side of London, checking out the biggest party ‘out East’: Summer Rites, Pride in the Park 2013!

Located in Shoreditch Park, Summer Rites had seven different arenas, a fun fair, food stalls market and five bars!  The main dance tent was heaving with great remixes and house music all day provided by the likes of well-known London scene DJs Jodie Harsh (cover photo), Kris Di Angeles and Adam Turner.

In another arena The Eagle/Horse Meat Disco was being represented by Jim Stanton and Jonny Kalifornia giving us some D I S C O!  When we needed a change we just popped into the Urban Tent where club promoter Mark Ashley Dupe was one of the awesome DJs on hand.

IMG_4863Being an East End festival it wouldn’t be complete without the All About East tent which included some of the best nights in East London from DISH and War to Blocheads and of course Eastbloc! DJ highlights were the sexy Spanish sensation Borja Pena, Pagano and Boris (Berlin).

In the Pop Circus tent was stars Sam Fox and Atomic Kitten, who were controversially sharing the same arena with Queens of Pop, who had done a rather cutting (but hilarious) parody of Atomic Kitten’s song ‘Whole Again.’ The girl band were not happy to be sharing the stage with Queens of Pop, but luckily no fights broke out!

The weather was amazing and the staff were friendly, with great clean facilities.  Most importantly the boys where hot! Just remember to wear sunscreen for next year.
