The 3rd international World Out Games came to a glorious close this Sunday, August 11th.
On Saturday afternoon over 7,000 participants, fans, and Antwerp Gay Pride revelers filled the open-air venue at Waagnatie. There were speeches and awards, the passing of the flag to the next host city, Miami Beach, and then, dancing!
We had a thrilling time tossing out free T-shirts to the adoring crowd, and the site of hundreds of guys sporting our logo made it all the more worthwhile.
As a sponsor, GuySpy was able to take an active role in the community-based Rainbow Village, participate in cultural and political activities, and attend several of the colorful sporting events.
Our Rainbow/Russia Olympic sticker campaign was an enormous success, and the over 300 people who showed up for the Kiss-In at The Russian Embassy in Antwerp made the evening extremely moving.
Both Scott Bolton and I were blown away by the level of talent at each and every competition.
We had a particularly good time cheering on the sexy, swimsuit-clad water polo players and the fast and agile footballers (soccer teams for all you North American readers).
But we were also taken aback by the beauty and poise of the same-sex ballroom dancers!
To all the participants, fans, friends, lovers, and the people of Antwerp, thank-you for an amazing experience. To anyone who has never had the chance to attend an OUT Games, we’d like to encourage you to do so. You won’t regret it.
See you in Miami Beach in 2017.
