Mash-ups are too often lost in a list of Youtube videos unvisited. With advances in technology making it easy for amateurs to become artists, you really have to sort through a stack of terrible tracks in order find a handful of hype-worthy hits. The key to enjoying a mash-up is to forget everything you know about the original and open yourself up to a world of mixed melodies and clever reinventions. Who would be better to blend together than the modern divas dominating our radio waves. With a line up of Adele, Lana Del Rey, Rihanna, Florence Welch, and so many more, you’ll be hitting “repeat” like it’s your dayjob.

Number 10: Adele vs. Lady GaGa

Adele has by far the most astounding voice in mainstream music today. However, her ability to get us off our seats and dancing in the streets is nothing like the Mother Monster. GaGa’s backtrack for “Judas” is just the trip to make your toes tap, and when it’s paired with the paramount vocal abilities of the voluptuous powerhouse, the song is unstoppable. I would love to see the two of them perform this number on stage.

Number 9: Lana Del Rey vs. Marina and the Diamonds

There is no denying that Lana Del Rey has some of the best backup tracks in modern music. Her producers use the perfect combination of pop beats and old-style orchestras. However, when we offer a beautiful backup to a singer with sass, you get a something entirely new. Marina and the Diamonds’ “Sugar Bitch” is the perfect pairing for Del Rey’s ditty.

Number 8: Ellie Goulding vs. Lady GaGa

This track starts out a little slow, but it’s a fabulous celebration of two exceptional songs. They transformed two upbeat dance songs and turned it into something layback and low key. I would have liked to hear more of Goulding’s voice, and that’s why the song is number 8 instead of number 1.

Number 7: Ke$ha vs. Britney Spears

As far as my generation is concerned, Britney is the face we picture when someone mentions a dancing diva. With “…Baby One More Time” and Oops!… I Did It Again” she will forever be remembered as the bold beauty who captured the world. Nevertheless, after her head-shaving escapade and umbrella-baring rampage she has sunken to the ditch that Ke$ha calls home. The two of them are a crazy coupling that creates something insanely catchy.

Number 6: Lana Del Rey vs. Woodkid

Woodkid, a musician who we featured in October, is an inspiring artist who’s close friends with Del Rey. He directed her music videos for “Born to Die” and
“Blue Jeans.” Though he has a really cool voice, it’s not featured in this collaboration. His exceptional instrumentals, on the other hand, are in full bloom. It’s a great pairing with Del Rey’s lyrics.

Number 5: Lady GaGa vs. Adele

Yet another amazing Adele and Lady GaGa mashup. But this time it’s GaGa who gets to carry the tune. As the infamous “Someone Like You” piano track plays we hear the love story of a “cool Nebraska guy.” I love this version because it really showcases GaGa’s vocal abilities with just a simple accompaniment.

Number 4: Etta James vs. Lady GaGa vs. Bruno Mars vs. Gotye

All of these amazing musicians bring something different to this catchy mash-up. It feels like they are all having an epic star-studded jam session around a grand piano on a rainy afternoon. The Cake Maker creates some of the very best mixes, and this is just another demonstration of his unparalleled abilities.

Number 3: Katy Perry vs. Rihanna vs. Ellie Goulding

This awesome combination of estrogen-fueled adrenaline is so electrifying you can’t help but sing along. Within a verse they will have your head nodding and bobbing. I can’t stop fantasizing about the group of Goddesses singing this in a club packed with beautiful people. Hope I’m invited to the party.

Number 2: Fun vs. Florence + the Machine

I’m a huge fan of both of the songs that went into this mix. Even though Fun is not necessarily a diva, in this reinvention we will make him an honorary member. However, as much as I love Florence and her awesome voice, I would have liked to hear Fun sing at least a line.

Number 1: Nicki Minaj vs. Adele vs. Lady GaGa vs. Enrique Iglesias vs. David Guetta

The girls are always great, but the presence of Iglesias is what makes this track number 1. It’s funky vibe is so intoxicating that there is no volume too loud when blaring the beat. It’s an excellent combination of vocals that showcases everyone’s style without giving anyone too much attention. Hands-down the best mash-up I’ve heard in ages.
